Culture Clash

I confess that although I grew up in North Carolina, I did not always embrace being Southern. In fact, I dated only men from the North. I liked the way they talked- fast and witty.

My mother was appalled when I announced my engagement to a Yankee from New York of all places! Our wedding was "simple and elegant". "Where was the chicken dance?", "How about the ziti?", and "no open bar?"

The things that make the South different go from not only the way we talk, the food we cook, the way we decorate, the things we buy, and the way we live.
